We are in need of parent volunteers for our first Dance/Activity night of the school year.  In order to make this a successful event we would like at least 10 parent volunteers.  Please contact Heather Acharya if you are interested in helping –

Picture retakes will be on Friday, October 26th from 9:00am to 10:00am.  If your child missed picture day or was not happy with their first picture, this will be the day they may get their picture taken for the yearbook, student body card, and/or for parents to purchase.  Please remember to send the old picture packet to school with your student.  Order forms are available in the office for new orders, please note that payment must be made at the time of pictures.  Late orders can be made online through lifetouch.

Our first Dine and Donate of the year will be at Killer Burger on Tuesday, October 30th.  We will send home flyers with students next week.  However, if you mention Spencer Butte the flyer is not needed.

Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year and students will be allowed to wear costumes to school on that day.  Costumes must follow regular 4j dress code: Student dress and grooming may not interfere with or disrupt the educational environment of the student or others.  Examples of clothing likely to disrupt the educational environment include clothing with language or symbols that are vulgar and plainly offensive, obscene or sexually explicit, racially divisive, drug-, alcohol- or tobacco-related, or indicative of gang activity or affiliation.   We also ask that Halloween costumes do not include masks, excessive amounts of fake blood, internal organs and/or fluids on the outside of the body, and no fake or real weapons of any kind.

Robotics club meets on Friday’s from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in Room 13.   All students are welcome to join!

Our first Activity Night of the school year will be on Friday, Oct. 26th.  Spencer Butte students may invite other middle school friends to attend the dance.  In order to have a visitor, students must pick up a form in the front office and have the visiting student’s school fill it out before the dance.  The students are excited and we know they enjoy the additional opportunity to be with their friends.  We would like to extend some reminders and logistics of the activity night as well as behavioral expectations.  How much does it cost to go to the dance?  Students may purchase entry wrist bands onThursday (10/25) and Friday (10/26) for $4, or pay $5 at the door.   Will there be food there?  Yes.  We will have water, juice, pizza, Rice Krispies treats, granola bars, fruit by the foot, and pizza.  Prices range from $.50 to $1.50.  When does the dance start and end?  This activity night starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.  Can students enter and leave and enter again?  Because the activity night is chaperoned by wonderful parent volunteers, we need to have the safety of students in mind. If a student wishes to leave prior to the end of the dance, they may do so as long as a parent and/or guardian picks them up.  Do the school expectations still apply after school?  Yes.  This is a school function so it falls under the same expectations of Spencer Butte Middle School and the 4J District.  We recognize our students’ need for fun and we appreciate your partnership in providing a safe environment for our students.  If you are interested in volunteering during the dance/activity night, please contact Heather Acharya –
