Students will go through their class schedule and practice their locker combinations as well.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Please come to our Family Ice Cream Social on Thursday, September 5th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Meet and socialize with other SBMS families. We will be serving several different flavors of ice cream from Prince Pucklers, including a dairy-free option, for a suggested donation of one dollar per bowl.
ParentVue is an on-line parent/guardian portal that offers secure, private access to school and student information including assignments, grades, attendance, calendar and teacher contact details for all middle and high school students you have enrolled in the school district. If you have not accessed ParentVue before, please e-mail or call Salena Bowen (email@example.com) for an activation key to set up your account. We will also available at Back in Business to set up access and assist if needed.
VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED FOR OREGON BATTLE OF THE BOOKS (OBOB) TEAM
We are seeking a couple of volunteer coaches to help with our Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) team this year. In order for Spencer Butte to participate we need to start up our team very soon. Generally, the meetings take place once a week with a team of students. Check out this website for more details (https://www.oregonbattleofthebooks.org/). The books have been ordered and all administrative tasks will be taken care of for you. If you would like to work with an enthusiastic group of students who LOVE to read, please contact Jennifer Kotlarek (firstname.lastname@example.org) and she will help get things organized with you.
FREE/REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS
In these tough economic times, many families are finding their finances tighter than ever. The school meal program may be able to help. The program is confidential, easy, and good for both your budget and our school.
A new application (one per household) must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. Applications are available online (https://district.ode.state.or.us/apps/frlapp/), in the school office, and at the 4J Education Center (200 North Monroe, Eugene), and can be returned to your school or to the 4J Education Center.
BUS ROUTES ONLINE
You can use this service to find out where the nearest bus stops are located and whether your student is eligible for bus transportation. Go tohttp://www.4j.lane.edu/transportation/ enter your address and your student’s grade level, then click on the school name to see the bus stop near your home.
VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECKS
Community and parent volunteers new to a school need to complete an online volunteer background check at – https://www.helpcounterweb.com/welcome/apply.php?district=eugene. All information on the application is sensitive and will be maintained in a confidential manner.
