FROM THE COUNSELOR
Dear families: We will be presenting a Mental Wellness Parent night on Tuesday, February 11th at 7:00pm in the Spencer Butte Library. Over the years we have noticed that February has been the time of year where we see an increase in student stress, depression, anxiety as well as self-harm and suicidal ideation. We will be having a presenter from Lane County prevention to discuss the importance of mental wellness. Please mark your calendars and join us for this informative night full of suggestions for prevention and interventions. At the Tuesday meeting we will discuss this information and on Thursday, February 13th we will be hosting a ‘Family Make It Night’ – a night of family fun to make creative preventative products to take with you. If you have any questions about either event, please contact our Counselor Margaret Albright at email@example.com
YEARBOOK PHOTOS NEEDED
If you have taken pictures of extracurricular student events this school year and would like to share with our yearbook staff, please contact Jenn Kotlarek (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Please specify all students pictured (if SBMS) and details of the event. Thank you for supporting our yearbook!
7TH GRADE VISION SCREENING
Vision screening for all 7th graders will take place on Thursday, February 6th during the school day. If you are a parent of a 6th or 8th grader and would like your student screened as well, please contact Heather Acharya in the front office.
DONATIONS NEEDED FOR FAMILY MAKE-IT NIGHT
We will be hosting a night with Edgewood Elementary where families can learn about various calming methods and strategies while having a chance to create their own products to take home. The items that we would like donated for this event include: Voss plastic water bottles, Regular and clear glue, Glitter, Flour, Uncooked Lentils/Split peas, Baking soda, Cream of tartar, Rice, Salt, Cooking oil, Borax, White 8 1/2 x 11 Paper (regular weight or heavy stock), Coloring supplies – markers/colored pencils/crayons, Clean and empty 20 oz or 1 liter bottles.
LIBRARY SEEKING PUZZLE DONATIONS
Our puzzle table is a big hit again this year but we’re in need of some new ones. If you have any puzzles, preferably in the 100-300 piece range, and would like to donate or let us borrow, please contact Jenn Kotlarek (email@example.com) or simply drop off in the office. Thank you!
