ART EXTRAVGANZA

Come celebrate the ARTS at Spencer Butte Middle School with us! This event will last for one hour only starting at 7pm on Wednesday, February 26th. Student artwork will be displayed in the hallways and each musical ensemble will be performing.  There will also be drinks and snacks for sale. We hope to see you there and celebrate our talented students!

TRACK

The track season will begin on Monday, March 9th.  Each student athlete will have the opportunity to improve their physical conditioning and skills by participating in the following events: shot put, discus throw, long jump, high jump, 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M, 1500M, 3000M, 100M hurdles and relay.  If you think that your child may be interested in participating, please have them pick up an information packet in the office.  In order to be on the team, students must have a physical on file that is no more than 2 years old (dated no earlier than May 8, 2017).  We have a school record of latest physical dates, which you may consult if you need verification – call Heather Acharya (acharya_h@4j.lane.edu) in the front office.

SCHOOL CENTS UPDATE

SBMS is in 2nd place, which means that we could be awarded with $1500 if we hold this position or $2000 if we take back 1st place! Please continue to submit any receipts from Valley River Center to the SBMS office, or by sending a picture of your receipts to johnson_a@4j.lane.edu . This fundraiser runs through March 31st so we still have plenty of time to earn points! Receipts from Round 1 are worth QUADRUPLE points and receipts from Justice, Piercing Pagoda, Rife’s, Vans, Easter Bunny Photos and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory are worth TRIPLE points. The attached flyer has more info about the program and current promotions. Thank you for your continued support!

SCHOOL TEXT MESSAGES

Are you signed up to receive school texts?  To help you stay informed and connected with your student’s school, this year Eugene School District 4J has added a new text messaging service through the district’s “autodialer” system. In addition to email and phone messages, schools may send occasional text messages with safety alerts or other important information.  A test message was sent on Monday, Feb. 17, to all parents with a phone designated as a mobile phone in their student records. The message came from the short code 67587 and began “You’re registered 4 SchoolMessenger notifications.” Parents who received this message are subscribed to receive future text notifications.  If you did not receive the test message and want to opt-in to text messages, please designate a mobile phone number in your student’s record. The messaging system only allows text messages to be sent to numbers listed in the cell phone field. If you only have a mobile phone, you can list it as both your home and mobile phone number.

To designate a cell phone number in your student’s records:

  1. Log in to your ParentVUE account, go to “My Account” and add your mobile phone in the cell phone field, or
  2. Contact the school to add/designate a mobile phone number.

Text messages will come from the short code 67587. Standard message and data rates apply. To stop receiving text messages, reply STOP at any time. To opt back in to receiving messages, send Y or YES to 67587. To change how you receive different types of messages, go to go.schoolmessenger.com, create a login, and go to “Preferences” to change your settings.
