SPENCER BUTTE SPARTAN UPDATE

June 4, 2020

TECHNOLOGY, TEXTBOOK AND SCHOOL INSTRUMENT TURN

We will be collecting materials on Wednesday, June 10th and Thursday, June 11th. We have posted a suggested pick up schedule CLICK HERE; however, you may come anytime if your designated time slot does not work for you.  Materials include iPads and chargers, Math Books, Library Books, and Band Instruments.  Please make sure to label your instruments with your student’s name so we can track returns faster.

To make this process as efficient as possible please follow the drop off guidelines:

– Vehicles please enter from West driveway entrance

– Pull up along the breezeway almost to the cafeteria – Signs will be posted

– Wait for a staff member to approach your vehicle to document your student’s name

– The staff member will step aside and allow you room to exit your vehicle to place items on a table for return.

– Proceed to the East side driveway to exit

Please start gathering items now so they are ready for turn in day. We are especially concerned about the number of Library books and Math books, as we do not want to spend money replacing these items.

8TH GRADE PROMOTION

This Tuesday, June 9th, from 5 pm to 8 pm, we will be holding our socially distant 8th Grade Promotion. We have provided an alphabetical schedule to minimize traffic and overlap. However, if you cannot attend at the scheduled time, please feel free to come anytime that evening. For families who cannot attend, we will work out other times or methods to make sure students get their promotion materials. CLICK HERE FOR 8TH GRADE PROMOTION SCHEDULE

Referring to the map (CLICK HERE FOR MAP), here is the plan for Promotion:

Families should arrive by car and enter as directed off 43rd Avenue. Originally, we had suggested in an earlier communication to parents that we would allow families to walk. However, that is not something we can allow.

At Station 1, families can pull off the main driveway where we will have a station to drop off iPads, the iPad adapter and cord, textbooks, and any other school materials. However, we do not recommend 8th grade families drop off materials on Tuesday. We are providing this station for families who cannot come any other time to drop off materials.

At Station 2, we will greet you wearing masks and present your student’s promotion materials on a table next to your car. We will then ask someone in the car (hopefully the 8th grader!) to get out and get the package. We may also ask if we can take a picture or video at that time. The package will include a special 8th grade promotion shirt, a promotion program, a certificate, and time capsules from Mr. Roderick’s class.

Station 3 is optional. If families choose, they can pull into the East parking lot and get out as a family group to take pictures. For backdrops, we will have a balloon arch, a way to take a picture at the front door, and a huge Sasquatch with Mr. Tromba’s face on it. If you choose to go to Station 3, please help our staff to help with crowd control and keeping distance.

YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION

Due to a nationwide reduction in Lifetouch’s plant production, we are still awaiting a shipping date for our yearbooks. Once we confirm receipt of the yearbooks, we will send out a Spartan Update with information about distribution. Please know that realistically, this may not occur until sometime late into the summer months. We appreciate your patience and thank you all for supporting our yearbook.
