ASYNCHRONOUS SUPPORT – 9:00AM – 10:30AM ON “A” AND “B” DAYS
We have heard from many families that the morning time, when students are working asynchronously, can be a struggle for students. It is an unstructured time and even though there is work posted on Canvas, some students have a hard time getting started. Therefore, starting Monday, we will have a special Zoom meeting on every “A” and “B” day where students can log-in, get help, find a study partner, chat with the principal or counselor, organize their day, etc. All students are welcome at this time and we encourage folks to try this out! In addition, Homework Club will be offered during this time. The link for the Asynchronous Support Zoom is: https://zoom.us/j/96276100824?pwd=WS8yYU1EQnNuMFFPTEFUbnRFS3dFdz09
FREE FLU VACCINE DRIVE THROUGH EVENT
There will be a free flu shot clinic on Tuesday, November 17th from 2:00pm – 7:00pm at the Lane Events Center at the Fairgrounds parking lot (796 W. 13th Ave.). No insurance needed, this is free to all who attend. See attached flyer for details.
WINTER FOOD DRIVE – ACCEPTING DONATIONS THROUGH NOVEMBER 24TH
Last week we kicked off our Winter Food Drive. We will be collecting food and toiletries through November 24th with collection bins out front each week day from 8am to 4pm. In addition, we will have staffed days on Thursday 11/12 from 9am – 11am, Wednesday 11/18 from 11am – 1pm, Monday 11/23 from 4pm – 6pm, and Tuesday 11/24 from 4pm – 6pm. Advisory classes have been grouped together and are competing to see who will bring in the most food. Collection bins are labeled by color and advisory class teacher names. Currently, Team Yellow Hippo is in the lead! If you would like to donate money to go towards buying perishable items, you can mail it to us or contact the office to arrange a drop off time. Please feel free to share this information with friends and family!

MYTHOLOGY AND WORLD RELIGIONS EXTENSION STARTS WEDNESDAY – GRADES 6 – 8
In the Mythology and World Religion Extension, we will look at aspects of religion from around the world and through history. We will start by examining where myths originate and commonalities in mythology and religion from around the world. This class has a very limited scope, so topics will often be driven by student interest. No preparation is necessary to attend this class on Weird Wednesdays!
YEARBOOK CLUB IS STARTING NOVEMBER 18TH!
Would your student like to be a part of the most unique yearbook we have ever had here at Spencer Butte? If so, students are invited to join Advisor, Jenn Kotlarek, every Wednesday morning beginning Nov. 18th from 10:00-11:00am via Zoom. There are many roles that staff will serve this year, and everyone’s contribution will be helpful. I’ll begin with an overview of what we’ll be creating, how exactly we’ll accomplish this, and then give you a chance to ask questions. Feel free to just stop by and check it out!
