SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS, ESPECIALLY HEALTH AND SAFETY
Today, students watched a series of videos and had conversations about Spencer Butte is health and safety expectations. We are including a link to that presentation in case you want to watch it. We tried to make it interesting for students; however, after using the videos today, we realized they contained too much information and are too wordy. We will be reminding students of all of this information in the coming weeks, so if they did not comprehend all of the information, there will be many more opportunities to learn it in context. Click here to link to the presentation.
BREAKFAST AND MORNING ARRIVAL
Breakfast, which is free for all students, is available every school day at 8:30. Until further notice, all meals will be eaten outside. If students are not coming for breakfast, we ask that parents/guardians not bring their students to school until 8:50.
The water fountains in the school are disabled for single use, but can fill water bottles. Please send your student with a water bottle every school day, or have them keep one in their locker for school use.
Masks need to be worn over the mouth and nose, and either loop behind the ears or tie behind the head. Students are not allowed to wear gaiters, bandanas, masks with valves, or face shields alone (face shields may be worn in addition to mask). If your student needs a new mask, one will be provided.
PARENTS IN THE BUILDING
At this time, parents and other family members of students are not allowed in the school building. If you need to pick up or drop off your student outside of normal times, or have something to drop off or pick up, please call the front office to make arrangements. There is also a doorbell outside the front doors to the school, and we are happy to meet you outside.
RETURNING MATH BOOKS
If your student has a math book from last year they have not yet returned, please have them return it to the school library as soon as possible.

FREE WEEKLY COVID-19 TESTING AVAILABLE FOR 4J STUDENTS
Eugene School District 4J is pleased to partner with the Oregon Health Authority and the University of Oregon to provide free COVID-19 testing to all 4J students during the 2021–22 school year. The program offers voluntary weekly screening testing for students in grades K–12 via a take-home saliva test. This is an optional program, so interested students must opt-in by completing the registration at tinyurl.com/k12covidtesting
**Those who register to receive free Covid-19 tests will be issued tests on Tuesday September 14. These tests will need to be returned to the school office the following day, Wednesday September 15 at the beginning of the school day. The tests are time sensitive, so it’s imperative they are returned at the beginning of the day.
If your student takes any medication while at school, a medication form must be filled out each school year.
Remember that medication must be in the container in which it was purchased, and labeled properly with instructions from the pharmacy. Please contact Salena Bowen to make arrangements for dropping off medication with the medication form, at email@example.com or 541-790-8300.
The school fee list is attached. Items listed for purchase at this time are a yearbook (also available for purchase throughout the year), and the “school supply bundle”. The supply bundle is an option for families who would rather pay $20 and have the school provide the items listed below for their student, in lieu of purchasing the items themselves. **If your student is in need of a scholarship for these items,
please contact SBMS Secretary, Salena Bowen at: firstname.lastname@example.org
**For those students who have purchased school supply bundles, these will be passed out during classes at the beginning of next week
