Hello SBMS Community!
Shiny Halls and Ready Desks!
In various ways SBMS staff have been working since the first day of summer break to prepare for the return of our students. From preparing our over 50-year-old building for students to come through the doors, planning meals, prepping computers, making schedules, planning supports, creating lessons, seating charts, and all of the other things that go into starting a school year- we have looked forward to the first days of school with students!
First Days of School
-
6th graders have their own day, Tuesday September 8th (9:00-3:40): Tuesday is all about getting our sixth graders connected and comfortable with SBMS! Students will learn how to navigate the school, where their classes are, practice with their lockers, and meet their teachers. During their day, they will be led by teachers and Supersonic Spartan leaders. Supersonic Spartan leaders are positive role models in the 7th and 8th grades who want our new students to succeed.
- All students are at school on Wednesday, September 9th (9:00-2:35)
When Does School Open and Where Do Students Go?
- The building will open at 8:00 AM. Students can go inside the front hall or wait outside.
- Breakfast begins at 8:30 for students who want to have breakfast.
- At 8:50 the bell rings and students can make their way to classes after putting their backpacks and other items (including cell phones and/or smart watches) in their lockers.
Schedules
6th grade students will be given their schedules during their first day. 7th and 8th grade students who need a copy of their schedule will be able to pick one up in the foyer of the school on Wednesday.
How Does Drop Off and Pick Up Work?
SBMS does not operate a formal drop off/pick up system.
- If you are picking up your child after school, please park in spaces or the driveway that are not designated for busses and please keep the curb ramps clear. Your child can also meet you off campus.
- While students may only enter through the front doors, they can exit out of any door, so I recommend speaking with your student about where they will be exiting if you are picking them up.
- Students must "walk their wheels" if they ride a bike, scooter, etc... to school. Well-fitting and properly worn helmets are required for students. If you need assistance with obtaining a helmet, please contact me or the office.
- Picking up early? Students do need to be signed out in the office before they leave the building. Calling the office ahead of time will help make your pick up more efficient when you arrive. To save you even more time, if you are picking up your student during lunch, let us know ahead of time and we can have them waiting for you, instead of you needing to wait while we find them in the building, the lunchroom, or on the turf.
