It has come to our attention that the date of the PTO meeting for this week was listed incorrectly in the last few Spartan Updates and school calendar.  We sincerely apologize about this mix up and to anyone who showed up to an empty school or who would have come on the correct date.  Much of the content of the Parent Meeting was recorded and will be posted to the Facebook Group soon.  In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to Peter Tromba.

Did you know that the Spencer Butte PTO has a Facebook Group?  This is a private group that provides updates and goings-on at the school.  Please visit: to request membership in the group.

With cold season soon approaching we would love extra donations of Kleenex.  There will be a donation bin out during Student Led Conferences on November 8th and we will also take donations anytime in the front office.

Our first Dine and Donate of the year will be at Killer Burger on Tuesday, October 30th.  Please see the flyer attached to this email.  However, if you mention Spencer Butte, the flyer is not needed.

Our first Activity Night of the school year is tonight.  Spencer Butte students may invite other middle school friends to attend the dance.  In order to have a visitor, students must pick up a form in the front office and have the visiting student’s school fill it out before the dance.  The students are excited and we know they enjoy the additional opportunity to be with their friends.  We would like to extend some reminders and logistics of the activity night as well as behavioral expectations.  How much does it cost to go to the dance?  Students may purchase entry wrist bands on Thursday (10/25) and Friday (10/26) for $4, or pay $5 at the door.   Will there be food there?  Yes.  We will have water, juice, pizza, Rice Krispies treats, granola bars, fruit by the foot, and pizza.  Prices range from $.50 to $1.50.  When does the dance start and end?  This activity night starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.  Can students enter and leave and enter again?  Because the activity night is chaperoned by wonderful parent volunteers, we need to have the safety of students in mind. If a student wishes to leave prior to the end of the dance, they may do so as long as a parent and/or guardian picks them up.  Do the school expectations still apply after school?  Yes.  This is a school function so it falls under the same expectations of Spencer Butte Middle School and the 4J District.  We recognize our students’ need for fun and we appreciate your partnership in providing a safe environment for our students.

On November 30th, Spencer Butte Middle School will be hosting our second annual Family BINGO Night.  This event has been planned to help build community and encourage fun connections between our families and our school.  During Middle School years, it is imperative to keep family and school connections strong.  With these connections we hope to increase social belonging, wrap around support, communication and connection between home and school.  Stay tuned for more details.

The City of Eugene is hosting some fun free family friendly activities over the next week.  To find out more visit: or
