AVID 9 AT SOUTH EUGENE HIGH SCHOOL

Dear Families of 8th Grade Students,  Applications for the AVID 9 program at South Eugene High School are now available for all incoming 9th grade students. AVID is a program that supports students in achieving academic success in high school while preparing them for admission to college. Applications can be picked up from Kelli Wilkinson, SBMS AVID Teacher, or in the Spencer Butte front office. An attachment to our application has also been included with this newsletter. Applications are due to Kelli Wilkinson or to the SBMS front office no later than Tuesday, February 18, 2020 by 3:45pm. There will be help filling out applications during lunch on the 13th and 14th in room 13.  Additional information about AVID is available on the South Eugene High School webpage. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the SEHS AVID program, please contact Laura Queirolo, SEHS AVID Teacher, at queirolo_l@4j.lane.edu.

7TH GRADE VISION SCREENING RESCHEDULED

Vision screening for all 7th graders has been re-scheduled for Thursday, February 27th from 10:00am to 11:00am.  If you are a parent of a 6th or 8th grader and would like your student screened as well, please contact Heather Acharya in the front office.

GARDEN PARTY

On February 17th Spencer Butte Middle School is hosting a big garden party from 11am to 2pm! All families are welcome! We used to have a fresh garden many years ago. The food would go into the cafeteria so all the students could eat! Many of the students want to bring that back but need help doing it! If anybody could bring shovels or hoes to use for the day that would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you have any gardening tools that you don’t use, we will gladly accept it! We will be putting in soil, beds, and planting seeds, so wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Pizza will be provided for lunch! Hope to see you there!

SCHOOL CENTS UPDATE

We want to thank you for your continued support with this FUNdraiser! We are fallen into second place but know that with your help we can take back first place and win the $2000 Grand Prize! Please continue to submit your receipts from all retailers inside of Valley River Center, including Regal Cinemas, the food court, Texas Roadhouse and BJ’s. The last day to submit receipts is March 31st and until that date any receipts dated since October 1st will be accepted. The School Cents flyer is attached and has more information about how to submit receipts, triple point bonuses and more! Feel free to bring your receipts to our office and Amy Johnson will enter them for you. Any questions can be directed to Amy by phone at 541-790-8300 or email at johnson_a@4j.lane.edu.
