FRIDAY, MAY 7TH GRADING DAY

There will be no school on Friday, May 7th for Mid-Trimester Grading.  This means that the Green Cohort students will report to school on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

SCHEDULE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SCHOOL YEAR

As stated above, there will not be a Wednesday ‘C’ day next week.  The two other times that will happen are the week of May 31st for Memorial Day and the week of June 14th which is the last week of school.  We will continue to list “Next Week School Schedules” in each issue of the Spartan Update Newsletter.

2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR – ATTACHED

The school board has approved the academic calendars for the 2021–22 school year.  The first day of school will be on a different day than usual this fall. Traditionally 4J begins school on the Wednesday after Labor Day. In 2021, this falls during Rosh Hashanah. While the district does not close schools during the year for major religious holidays, by policy and practice the district seeks to avoid scheduling important unique events for students on such days.  Students in selected grades will start the school year with a transition day on Thursday, Sept. 9th, to support their transition to the new year and in-person school after more than a year of distance learning and hybrid on-site learning. The first day of classes for all grades will be on Friday, September 10th.

In another difference from previous school years’ calendars, the second Friday in October, the annual statewide in-service day, will be a regular school day.

SCHOOL PICTURES

We will be having school pictures, for all students the week of May 24th.  Please stay tuned for more information.

DEADLINE FOR ONLINE YEARBOOK PURCHASES IS MAY 10TH

Have you purchased a yearbook?  If you would like to purchase a yearbook, the online Yearbook Pay site will only be open until May 10th. After that, all purchases will have to be delivered in person or mailed to the school.  Please go to https://ybpay.lifetouch.com/Order/SelectJob and enter our school code 11732521 to complete your purchase. If you are unsure about your order status, please contact Jenn Kotlarek (kotlarek@4j.lane.edu). Thanks for supporting our yearbook!

ATTENDANCE DURING ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNING TIME

Even though some students are attending classes in person, asynchronous attendance still counts and continues to be generated by time spent online in Canvas classes.  Even though your student may be physically present in the building, they still must make sure to log into their Canvas class module.  If this does not happen, they will be marked as absent.  This is especially important on Wednesdays, or “C” days, when all learning is done asynchronously. If you have any questions, please call Hanna Sites in the office, 541-790-8300.

WALK + ROLL TO SCHOOL!

Our school is participating in the May Walk+Roll to School Challenge and we need your help! Our goal is for as many students as possible to increase their physical activity and help the planet by walking, biking, scooting, skating, using a mobility device and riding the school bus to get to and from school!  This involves parking a 10 minute (or more) walk away from school and walking the rest of the way.  This is the time to try something new or to make a habit out of something you’ve only tried before! Join us this May in walking and rolling to school!
